Awareness Camp Organised in Bharmour Development Block

Mahinder Patyal
Bharmour– An awareness camp was organised today at Gram Panchayat Bharmour, Development Block Bharmour, with active participation from women belonging to self-help groups and village organizations.

During the session, Sanjay Kumar, Area Coordinator of Bharmour Block, addressed the gathering and explained the issue of gender bias. He highlighted that gender bias is the tendency to give preference to one gender over another, which leads to unequal treatment and stereotypes, such as limited access for women to education, employment and healthcare.

Key Themes Discussed

  • Social stereotypes: The camp emphasized how traditional norms often restrict women to domestic roles, reinforcing inequality.
  • Gender equality: It was underlined as a fundamental principle ensuring equal rights, responsibilities, and opportunities for all individuals, regardless of gender. The aim is not to make men and women identical, but to guarantee equal access to education, employment, and personal growth.
  • Community voices: Women from self-help groups and village organizations also shared their experiences and discussed ongoing group activities, raising a collective voice against violence and discriminatory roles assigned to men and women.

Dignitaries Present

The meeting was attended by Mission Executive Akshay Kumar, ICRP Manorama Devi, and Ward Member Suvarna Devi, who supported the initiative and encouraged women to continue working towards social awareness and empowerment.
