Ambulance carrying patient to hospital falls into gorge near Gagret in Himachal; 3 killed on spot, 2 survive

A road accident occurred on Saturday (September 6, 2025) morning near Gagret on the Chintpurni-Hoshiarpur road in Una district of Himachal Pradesh where an ambulance carrying a patient veered off the road and fell into a deep gorge.


The incident resulted in the d*eath of three persons, including the patient, on the spot. According to preliminary information, the ambulance was en route from Tanda Medical College to DMC-Ludhiana, carrying a patient from Jasur along with family members. As the vehicle reached the Manguwal area near Gagret, the driver reportedly lost control, causing the ambulance to plunge into the gorge.


Two others sustained severe injuries and were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where their condition remains critical. Local residents, along with police personnel, launched a rescue operation shortly after the crash and assisted in recovering the victims.


The authorities are yet to confirm the exact cause of the accident, but overspeeding or a mechanical failure is being suspected. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for postmortem examination and further investigation is underway, said an official. The tragic incident has once again raised concerns over road safety, especially on hilly routes frequently used by emergency vehicles.
