The Newz Radar

SHIMLA: The weather in some parts of Himachal Pradesh experienced a notable shift due to the influence of a fresh western disturbance that hit the state on Monday (December 11, 2023).

The Kullu and Lahaul valleys of the state witnessed adverse weather conditions from late Monday night until 9 am, with Rohtang and higher peaks such as Baralacha, Seven Sisters Peaks and Hanuman Tibba receiving fresh snowfall.

The sudden weather change has intensified the cold wave across the entire valley. Despite the chilly conditions, a large number of tourists descended upon Koksar at 10 am, seeking to revel in the fresh snowfall. A substantial number of tourists are flocking to Sisu and the North Portal of the Atal Tunnel to experience snowfall.

According to the Meteorological Centre in Shimla, light rain and snowfall are predicted in middle and high hills of the state on Tuesday (December 12) and in isolated parts of Wednesday.

However, a respite is anticipated as the weather is expected to clear up across the entire state on December 14 and 15. Another round of rain and snowfall may occur in isolated parts on December 16, with clear skies forecasted from December 17 onwards. The capital Shimla and its surrounding regions are currently basking in sunshine accompanied by light clouds.
