A case has emerged in Himachal Pradesh involving an unknown individual impersonating the Personal Security Officer (PSO) of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, using abusive language and threatening Congress workers. The accused falsely introduced himself as the Chief Minister’s PSO and intimidated Congress workers over the phone.
The incident came to light when Abhishek Sharma, the actual PSO posted in the Chief Minister’s security, learnt about the impersonation. Upon receiving reports of the fraudulent calls, Abhishek contacted the accused, who astonishingly continued to pose as the Chief Minister’s PSO. This left Abhishek and other security personnel stunned.
Following this revelation, Abhishek lodged an FIR at the Chhota Shimla police station. The Shimla police have since launched an investigation to track and apprehend the suspect. The police are analysing the call detail records of the accused’s mobile number and have stated that he would be arrested soon.
According to the complaint, the matter was first brought to attention on July 2 when a Congress worker received a call from the accused, who used mobile number 98054-00055. The caller introduced himself as Abhishek Sharma, the PSO of Chief Minister Sukhu, and used abusive language to intimidate the worker.
Shimla SP Sanjeev Gandhi confirmed that the police were taking swift action against the accused. He assured the accused would be arrested soon.
In his complaint, Abhishek noted that during their conversation, the accused claimed to be from Bela village in Nadaun, the Chief Minister’s home constituency. The imposter further asserted that he was posted in the 4th Battalion of the Himachal police at Jungle Beri. The false claims added to the gravity of the impersonation.
The FIR registered at Chhota Shimla police station includes charges under sections 204 and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The police are now searching for the suspect, scrutinising call details and urging the public to report any information that could aid in the arrest.
