Dharamshala: Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) Chairman and Congress MLA RS Bali informed the Assembly on Thursday about the plight of properties funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) that remain abandoned despite investments worth crores.
Bali highlighted that several properties, including one in Mata Ka Bagh, another in Nagrota constituency, and one in Dharamshala constituency, have been left unused since their construction.
“Even the sanitation pipes in these properties are now rotting. It has been decided that these properties must be made operational at any cost,” said Bali, adding that the government is determined to ensure their utilization through viable means.
Addressing the allegations from BJP leaders Bikram Thakur and Vipin Parmar, Bali defended the government’s intention to lease HPTDC properties to third parties. He stated that the leasing process is aimed at reviving the abandoned infrastructure for public benefit and tourism promotion, dismissing the opposition’s doubts about the government’s motives.
He assured the Assembly that steps are being taken to make these abandoned properties operational and productive, emphasizing the importance of preserving public investments and ensuring their effective use.
