Actor Sahil Khan arrested in Mahadev betting app case, was on run for several days

Bollywood actor Sahil Khan has been arrested by the Mumbai police for his alleged involvement in the Mahadev betting app case, the action coming days after the Bombay High Court rejected his petition for interim bail.
Having acted in films like ‘Style’ and ‘Excuse Me’, Sahil Khan is also a popular influencer on social media. A special investigation team of the Mumbai police’s cyber cell arrested Sahil Khan from Chhattisgarh, a state he had fled to after the rejection of his interim bail plea by the high court. He was nabbed after over a 40-hour-long operation conducted jointly by the Mumbai police and the Chhattisgarh police.
Sahil Khan, who has been brought to Mumbai, is facing a probe for allegedly being part of a controversy related to illegal transactions between certain financial and real estate firms in Chhattisgarh and the promoters of the controversial Mahadev betting app. The Mumbai police have been investigating Sahil Khan’s bank accounts, laptops, mobile phones and other technical equipment.
Actor Tamannaah Bhatia too was summoned by the Maharashtra cyber cell in connection with the promotion of a subsidiary app of Mahadev betting app earlier this week.
She was summoned for allegedly promoting the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches on the Fairplay betting app. The Mahadev betting app made headlines in 2023 when famous actors Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor were summoned by the Enforcement Directorate for questioning. Both star actors have appeared in ads for the app.
Mahadev betting app was operated from Dubai by Saurabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal, both belonging to Chhattisgarh’s Bhilai. ED officials maintained that Chandrakar and Uppal had links with police, bureaucrats and politicians as regular payments were made to ensure the app stayed off the radar of probe agencies.
