Kangra–Chamba MP Rajiv Bhardwaj Meets Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in Delhi

Member of Parliament from Kangra–Chamba, Rajiv Bhardwaj, met Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in Delhi during a courtesy visit. During the meeting, Bhardwaj discussed several key railway-related issues concerning his parliamentary constituency.

The MP stated that the discussions were constructive and focused on improving railway connectivity and infrastructure in the region. The major points raised during the meeting include:

  1. Pathankot–Jogindernagar Train Service
    Bhardwaj urged the early resumption of the Pathankot–Jogindernagar rail service. Addressing recent speculation that the train might operate from Dalhousie Road station, the Railway Minister clarified that the service will continue to run from Pathankot station. He assured that the service would be restored to the earliest.
  2. Broad Gauge Conversion
    The MP also demanded the conversion of the Pathankot–Jogindernagar railway track to broad gauge. The Minister responded that instructions would soon be issued to complete the necessary formalities.
  3. Rail Network in Chamba
    Bhardwaj reiterated the need to expand railway connectivity to Chamba district. The Minister assured that a survey for this project would be conducted soon.
  4. Vande Bharat Train Stop Restoration
    The issue of restoring the stoppage of the Vande Bharat Express running between Shri Vaishno Devi Katra and New Delhi at Pathankot Cantt was also raised. The stoppage had been discontinued after last year’s monsoon disruptions. The Minister acknowledged the concern and discussed its possible reinstatement.
  5. Rail Connectivity to Religious Sites
    Bhardwaj proposed linking the Amb–Andora and Daulatpur railway lines with major religious sites in the Kangra region, including temples such as Jwala Ji, Chamunda Devi, Brajeshwari Devi, and Baglamukhi. The Minister assured that appropriate departmental action would be taken.
