In a strong message against indiscipline within the force, the Himachal Pradesh Police has suspended three personnel, including a Sub-Inspector, in separate cases involving alleged violation of service conduct rules and misconduct while on duty. Departmental inquiries have been ordered against all three officials.

Shimla Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gaurav Singh confirmed the action, saying the department would not tolerate any conduct that compromises the discipline and integrity expected of police personnel.

According to officials, the suspended Sub-Inspector allegedly violated the Himachal Pradesh Police Conduct Rules by sharing a social media post linked to political activities. Police personnel are barred from publicly participating in or endorsing political activities or political parties while in service. The department viewed the alleged act as a serious breach of conduct and initiated disciplinary proceedings.

In a separate incident, a Head Constable and a Constable were suspended after allegations surfaced that they had consumed alcohol while on duty. The police department had reportedly received repeated complaints regarding their conduct. A preliminary verification found substance in the allegations, following which both officials were suspended and attached to the Police Lines in Shimla pending the outcome of the departmental inquiry.

Officials said the police, being a disciplined force, is expected to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and accountability. Any violation of service rules, misconduct, or dereliction of duty will invite strict disciplinary action.

The suspension of the three personnel reflects the department’s renewed emphasis on enforcing discipline and ensuring that misconduct within the ranks is dealt with promptly and without exception.
