Dharamshala: As the proposed IPL match scheduled for May 5 at the International Cricket Stadium at Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh approaches, the threat of rain looms large.

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms and heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds from May 4 to May 5. Such weather conditions could disrupt the cricket match.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the weather is expected to remain clear across the state on Thursday (May 2) and Friday. However, a western disturbance (WD) is forecasted to become active again from Friday night, increasing the likelihood of rain in most parts of the state. The weather is predicted to remain clear for the next three days starting May 6.

Snow leads to dip in temp
Due to intermittent rain and snowfall over the past week, the weather has become cooler and pleasant. This has resulted in a decrease in temperatures by up to 4 degrees Celsius below normal in some areas of the state.

Several cities have experienced temperatures plummeting up to 9 degrees Celsius below normal, with Mandi recording the most significant drop of 9.5 degrees Celsius. Similarly, after a drop of 6 degrees Celsius below normal, Manali’s temperature settled at 2.6 degrees Celsius.

Chennai team to land today
The match between Chennai and Punjab is scheduled to take place in Dharamshala on Sunday. The Chennai team is expected to arrive at Dharamshala around noon on Friday, while the Punjab team will reach by evening today.

The Punjab team will land at Gaggal Airport from Chennai via a special flight at 1:30 PM. Officials of the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) will welcome the players at Gaggal Airport. From there, the players will head straight to the Radisson Blu Hotel in Kangra.

The Kings XI Punjab team will practice in Dharamshala from tomorrow afternoon to 5 pm. On May 4, the Punjab team will participate in a practice session from 2 PM to 5 PM. The Chennai team will sweat it out in their practice session from 6 PM to 9 PM on May 4th. Both teams are set to clash on May 5.
