Chamba:
In a historic moment for the remote tribal region of Pangi valley in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu will mark the first-ever state-level Himachal Day function in the area by unveiling a slew of developmental projects worth nearly ₹80 crore on Tuesday (April 15, 2025).
The move is being hailed as a major push toward bridging the developmental gap in one of the state’s most isolated regions.
During his visit to Killar, the administrative headquarters of Pangi in Chamba district, the Chief Minister will dedicate and lay foundation stones for 14 key developmental projects, aimed at boosting infrastructure, healthcare, education and energy in the valley.
Inaugurations totaling over ₹54 crore
Among the major projects to be inaugurated by the Chief Minister are:
• Mini Secretariat building, Killar – ₹20.88 crore
• 50-bedded Civil Hospital, Killar – ₹19.83 crore
• Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Killar – ₹5.62 crore
• Bus Stand, Killar – ₹5.29 crore
• Alternate approach road to bus stand – ₹2.98 crore
In addition, an ATM facility of the Himachal Pradesh State Cooperative Bank will be launched in Killar to improve access to banking services and the Chief Minister also participated in a tree plantation drive at the PWD Rest House premises, promoting environmental consciousness in the region.
New foundations worth nearly ₹24 crore
CM Sukhu will also lay the foundation stones for several upcoming projects, which include:
• Residential quarters for agriculture department, Killar: ₹3.75 crore
• Additional rooms at GSSS-Luj and GSSS-Mindhal: ₹1.5 crore each (Total: ₹3 crore)
• Sub-market yard, Killar: ₹2.13 crore
• HPSEBL office building: ₹49.42 lakh
• Health sub-centres at Rei and Hudan tehsil: ₹1.99 crore each (Total: ₹3.98 crore)
• 1 MW solar power project at Dhanwas Karyas (HPSEBL) – ₹10.51 crore
This major investment of ₹78.53 crore reflects the government’s renewed focus on inclusive development and its commitment to reaching the most remote areas of the state.
