The traditional Chinj Mela was celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy at Bhatiyat Sub-Divisional Headquarters, Chuwari, under the chairmanship of Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania.
A large number of people gathered to witness the thrilling wrestling bouts, where renowned wrestlers from across the country showcased their strength and skills.
In his address, Speaker Pathania emphasized that Himachal Pradesh’s folk culture, traditions, and customs are integral to social life. He noted that fairs and festivals are not only a source of entertainment but also strengthen social harmony and cultural values.
Highlighting the importance of the event, he welcomed the decision to increase the first prize in the wrestling competition to ₹1.21 lakh. He assured that the Chinj Mela’s scale and stature will be further enhanced, with the organizing committee’s proposals considered positively.
To support the successful organization, Pathania announced a grant of ₹1.21 lakh from his discretionary fund. He also handed over a cheque of ₹1.10 lakh, as per his commitment made last year.
The Speaker was honored by the organizing committee during the event.
