Nurpur Police Seize Heroin, Arrest 19-Year-Old in ‘Drug-Free Himachal’ Drive

Under the ongoing ‘Drug-Free Himachal Campaign’, the CIA team of Nurpur Police achieved a major success at the Kandwal police barrier. During routine checking, officers intercepted an HRTC bus and arrested a 19-year-old passenger with 10.16 grams of heroin (chitta) in his possession.

On July 21, 2026, at around 1:50 PM, the bus (HP 31 A 8869) coming from Pathankot was stopped for inspection. A young passenger panicked on seeing the police and tried to get off. Acting swiftly, the team detained him and conducted a search in the presence of witnesses. A transparent plastic packet containing heroin was recovered from his pocket.

Police also seized a bus ticket (Pathankot–Shahpur) and a Lava 5G smartphone from the accused.

Legal Action

An FIR (No. 186/2026) has been registered at Police Station Nurpur under Section 21 of the ND&PS Act. The accused has been arrested, and police are investigating backward and forward linkages to trace the source and intended delivery of the contraband.

Nurpur Police reiterates its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and urges the public to share any information about drug-related activities. The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.
