Palampur — The NSS unit of Shaheed Captain Vikram Batra Government College, Palampur, in partnership with Hildari NGO, organised a campus-wide cleanliness drive aimed at promoting environmental awareness and responsible waste management among students and staff.
The initiative, held within the college premises, began at 11:00 a.m. with six representatives from Hildari NGO educating students on solid waste management and the importance of collective cleanliness. Their session emphasized practical steps for waste segregation and the long-term benefits of maintaining a clean environment.
Principal Professor Pankaj Sood addressed the gathering, urging students to take active responsibility for campus hygiene. “Cleanliness is not just an activity—it’s a lifestyle and a social duty,” he remarked, encouraging sustained participation in such initiatives.
Under the guidance of Program Officers Professor Poonam Sharma and Professor Rajeev Bhoria, 50 NSS volunteers enthusiastically took part in the drive. They cleaned the campus and surrounding areas, segregated waste into biodegradable and non-biodegradable categories, and displayed posters and slogans aligned with the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Mission).
The campaign fostered a spirit of unity, discipline, and environmental stewardship among the participants. It concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks from the program officers, who commended the volunteers’ dedication and expressed gratitude to Hildari NGO for their valuable support.
