MLA Neeraj Nayyar reaffirmed that ensuring the holistic development of the Chamba Assembly constituency remains his foremost priority. He stated that several crore-rupee projects are being executed at a rapid pace to strengthen infrastructure and expand civic amenities. Key focus areas include parking facilities, road improvement, sewerage, sports infrastructure, and air connectivity.
Speaking as the chief guest at a foundation stone laying ceremony held at Children’s Park (Chowgan No. 4), Nayyar inaugurated and performed bhoomi pujan for development works worth ₹65 lakh. These included the reconstruction and beautification of Children’s Park, beautification of Chowgan No. 3, and repair and enhancement of footpaths at Chowgan Nos. 2, 3, 4, and 5. He also performed bhoomi pujan for beautification works at the park located in the Shri Lakshmi Narayan Temple complex.
Highlighting ongoing projects, the MLA said that ₹25 crore has been sanctioned for the Bhagot parking facility, with ₹10 crore already released. The proposed multi-storey parking at the old bus stand is under construction, with plans to expand it from four to six floors to provide a long-term solution to the city’s parking woes.
He further informed that ₹1.25 crore has been earmarked for upgrading the Pakkatala-Balu link road to improve access to the new campus of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru Government Medical College at Sarol, with ₹50 lakh already released as the first installment.
Nayyar announced that most of the construction work at Chamba Heliport has been completed, and heli-taxi services will commence soon. He also mentioned that steps are being taken to shift National Highway-154A along the Ravi river towards Bharmaur to ease traffic congestion in Chamba town and the temple area.
During the event, Nayyar distributed 10 street lights for each ward of Chamba Municipal Council from his MLA fund. Municipal Council President Bhuvneshwari Gulati and Councillor Tanvi Goswami also addressed the gathering, while Executive Officer Rakhi Kaushal delivered the welcome speech.
The program was attended by District Council Vice President Liyaqat Ali, Municipal Council Vice President Jitendra Surya, councillors from various wards, and local dignitaries.
