DAV Public School-Nerchowk hosted its much-awaited “Spandan” Annual Function and Prize Distribution Ceremony for the academic year 2024-25.
The event was celebrated with immense zeal and enthusiasm, reflecting the school’s dedication to academic excellence and cultural growth.
Prestigious gathering
The ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of Justice Dharm Chand Chaudhary (retired), who attended as the chief guest, accompanied by his wife Nirmala Chaudhary.
Special guests included Satyaprakash Sharma, the president of Arya Samaj-Sundernagar, along with his wife Bhavna Sharma.
Also present were KS Guleria, the Regional Officer of DAV Zone-C, and his wife Vandana Guleria, and Mahendra Singh Thakur, school manager.
Other distinguished attendees included Sangeeta Sharma, RL Pathak, Vinay Dhiman and principals from various DAV Zone-C schools, whose presence further elevated the event’s grandeur. The occasion was warmly welcomed by Principal Prashant Sharma, who presented floral bouquets and traditional Himachali caps to the dignitaries.
Vibrant start to celebrations
The programme commenced with a ceremonial lamp lighting by the chief guest, special guests and the principal, marking the beginning of the auspicious event.
The atmosphere was filled with joy as the school choir presented a melodious welcome song, setting the tone for the festivities.
The school students showcased their exceptional talent, beginning with a performance that highlighted the significance of Vedic chants and the sacred sound of ‘Om’ in Indian tradition.
Primary students captivated the audience with vibrant dance performances, infusing the event with energy and charm. Senior students followed with their own set of engaging presentations, with a theatrical adaptation of the classic play “Andher Nagri Chaupat Raja” emerging as one of the highlights of the ceremony.
Recognition of excellence
The ceremony was a testament to the hard work and dedication of the students, as over 550 young achievers were honoured for their academic excellence and co-curricular achievements.
The chief guest, along with other dignitaries, presented mementos to the meritorious students, acknowledging their commitment to success. The audience, which included more than 1,200 parents, expressed their unwavering support for the school’s initiatives.
Strong commitment to education
Principal Prashant Sharma presented the annual report, highlighting the school’s remarkable achievements, including a 100% success rate in the CBSE board exams for both classes 10 and 12.
The school’s impressive accomplishments in sports and cultural activities were also acknowledged. In his address, Principal Sharma reiterated the institution’s commitment to holistic education and urged students to continuously strive for excellence.
Mahendra Singh Thakur praised the school’s efforts, assuring parents of a bright future for their children.
KS Guleria emphasised the importance of cultural programmes in nurturing students’ all-around development.
Justice Chaudhary congratulated the awardees and encouraged the students to follow their passions, reminding them of the role such events play in shaping young minds.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Maneesha, who expressed her gratitude to all the guests, parents and staff for their contributions to the success of the ceremony.
