A serious road accident was narrowly avoided near Rajol 45 Mile on Sunday evening when a car, in an attempt to save a stray animal that suddenly appeared on the road, lost control and collided with an oncoming tipper. The car overturned in the impact.
Fortunately, the occupants of the car sustained only minor injuries, though the vehicle was badly damaged. Eyewitnesses reported that the driver applied sudden brakes to avoid hitting the animal, causing the car to lose balance and crash.
This incident once again highlights the persistent problem of stray animals on national highways and major roads. Locals complain that stray cattle frequently sit or wander on the road in the 45 Mile area, posing a constant risk of accidents. Residents have urged the administration and the Animal Husbandry Department to take immediate and effective measures to remove stray animals from highways, warning that failure to act could lead to a major tragedy in the future.
