Indian oil firms assure of ample supplies amid Pakistan conflict, urge against panic-buying

MANDI: In the wake of rising tensions and uncertainty due to the ongoing war crisis with Pakistan, Indian old companies have assured the public that there is no shortage of fuel and that supply chains are operating normally across the country.

Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), the country’s largest fuel retailer, issued a public assurance on Thursday stating that there is no shortage of fuel.

In an official statement released on social media, IOCL emphasised that ample stocks of petrol, diesel and LPG are available at all its outlets nationwide. The company also made a strong appeal to citizens, urging them to refrain from panic buying and to avoid crowding fuel stations unnecessarily.

“We request all citizens to avoid unnecessary rush at fuel outlets. Adequate product stocks are available across the country, and our supply lines are operating smoothly,” the post read.

Supply chain remains intact

Despite the disruptions caused in some regions by the ongoing conflict, Indian Oil confirmed that its logistics and distribution networks have been fortified to ensure continuity of service.

A senior official from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas also echoed IOCL’s statement, saying that there is no immediate threat to national fuel security and that both public and private sector companies have been instructed to maintain strategic reserves.

LPG access remains unaffected

Along with automotive fuels, the IOCL reassured households that the supply of LPG cylinders remains unaffected. The corporation reported that deliveries are proceeding as per schedule, and there is no need for customers to stockpile.

Sources in the Petroleum Ministry revealed that a high-level coordination team is monitoring developments on an hourly basis. Emergency protocols are in place to respond swiftly to any potential disruptions.

Citizens urged to stay calm

As fear-driven hoarding could strain the supply chain and inconvenience others, the IOCL reminded citizens of the importance of responsible behaviour during national emergencies.

Our priority is to ensure uninterrupted energy access for every citizen. Let us cooperate and act in unity,” IOCL stated.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas confirmed that a special war-time fuel supply task force has been activated to oversee uninterrupted operations. The Centre has also directed state-run companies like Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum to remain on alert and collaborate in the national interest.

“We are closely monitoring real-time stock levels across all refineries, terminals, and retail networks. Strategic reserves have been mobilized, and fuel trucks are being given priority clearance to maintain seamless distribution,” it said.
