Himachal drug lord hired unemployed youths at Rs 2,000 per day to supply chitta; police uncover nexus in Bilaspur

In a significant breakthrough in the ongoing investigation into a drug trafficking case in Bilaspur district, the Himachal Pradesh Police have uncovered alarming details about a notorious drug dealer, Ashok Kumar, arrested from Kot town under the Bharari police station.

Following his arrest, police interrogation revealed shocking facts about his operation and the scale of his drug network.

According to sources, Ashok Kumar had been involved in the illegal sale of “chitta” (a form of heroin) for a long period, distributing approximately 10 grams of the drug daily.

Earned up to Rs 50,000 daily

Ashok Kumar’s earnings ranged between Rs 30,000 and Rs 50,000 per day.
To expand his business, he recruited several unemployed youths to assist in the supply of chitta, paying them daily wages of Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000.

He reportedly maintained control over his territory by frequently firing in the air with an American-made pistol, a weapon recovered from his home during a police raid on March 22.

Raid leads to seizure of illegal firearm from home

The raid at Kumar’s residence led to the seizure of the illegal firearm, prompting his immediate arrest.
The court remanded him to police custody for five days to assist in further investigation. Authorities are now exploring links between Ashok Kumar and other local drug traffickers, particularly focusing on whether they possessed illegal weapons as well.

In addition, police recently arrested two brothers from Bithol village in the Dharampur area of Solan district after discovering 11 grams of chitta hidden in an under-construction building.
Gaurav and Chetan, both residents of Bithol, were apprehended during a routine patrol. It was revealed that Gaurav had been previously arrested for chitta trafficking in a separate case registered in Dharampur.
