Says absence of national capital and new states reflects poor academic standards

Bharmour: Dr Janak Raj, BJP MLA from Bharmour in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, has raised serious concerns about outdated maps of India being displayed in several schools across his constituency.
According to the first-time legislator, these maps do not show the country’s capital New Delhi nor do they mark several newly formed states. This, he says, is a glaring lapse in basic educational resources.
Dr Janak Raj brought the matter to the attention of the Chamba Deputy Commissioner through an official email, highlighting the poor condition and accuracy of the maps currently used for teaching geography in local schools.
Expressing disappointment, the MLA said, “This clearly reflects the level of education in my constituency. If students are unaware of their own country’s capital, how can we expect them to grow and learn meaningfully?”
He has urged the district administration to take immediate corrective action to replace these outdated and incomplete maps with accurate and up-to-date versions, ensuring that students are provided with the right educational tools.
