The Hair & Beauty Federation of India (HBFI) recently convened a high-level strategic meeting in Himachal Pradesh, signaling a major push toward professionalizing and protecting the region’s salon sector.
Led by national heavyweights—including Vice President Indra Ahluwalia, General Secretary Nirmal Randhawa, Joint Secretary Pinky Singh, and Treasurer Vipin Dabas—the summit brought together the state’s leading industry figures to tackle systemic hurdles facing local entrepreneurs.
Unified Leadership for Local Growth
The Himachal Pradesh chapter, spearheaded by President Anil Chandel, showcased a united front. Key contributors included Surinder Paul, Praveen Patel, Anil Nagpal, Ashok Manhas, Sunny Baba, and Deepak, all of whom advocated for the interests of grassroots salon owners.
The Agenda: Tackling the Industry’s “Ugly” Side
The meeting pivoted on the “pressing challenges” that often hinder small-scale parlours from scaling. The federation identified several critical areas for immediate action:
- The Counterfeit Crisis: Addressing the dangerous rise of duplicate beauty products that compromise skin safety and erode customer trust.
- Economic Pressures: Navigating the “double-squeeze” of rising operational costs and a lack of formal financial support for small businesses.
- The Talent Gap: Solving the chronic shortage of skilled labor and the difficulty of staff retention in the region.
- Technological Evolution: Encouraging owners to upgrade to modern tools and techniques to remain competitive in a fast-evolving market.
A Vision for Quality and Ethics
Beyond logistics, the HBFI emphasized that the heart of the business remains quality service. National leaders stressed that continuous motivation and professional training are the only ways to ensure long-term customer satisfaction and industry growth.
“Our goal is to uplift the salon sector in Himachal through collaboration and education. By fighting counterfeit products and providing financial guidance, we can ensure every small parlour has the tools to thrive.”
The meeting concluded with a pledge to launch new skill enhancement programs and awareness campaigns across the state, ensuring that Himachal’s beauty industry remains both safe and prosperous.
