Under the chairmanship of Lok Sabha MP Dr. Rajiv Bhardwaj, the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting was held at the Savings Bhawan today.
Dr. Bhardwaj emphasized that the cooperative sector can play a vital role in generating self-employment opportunities and strengthening the rural economy. He directed officials to ensure effective and time-bound implementation of all cooperative schemes, while also encouraging maximum public participation in cooperative institutions to expand livelihood options.
Reviewing the progress of centrally sponsored schemes, Dr. Bhardwaj instructed departments to accelerate development works. He highlighted that bringing the Chakki–Chamba–Bharmaur National Highway under NHAI would ensure proper maintenance and expedite double-lane construction. He also appreciated the effective implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana in strengthening road connectivity.
Expressing concern over the slow pace of work under the centrally funded RDSS scheme, he urged the implementing agency RVNL to speed up execution. He noted that ₹90 crore is being invested to strengthen the district’s power supply network, and benefits must reach people within the stipulated timeframe.
Dr. Bhardwaj also directed officials to forward the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of the Ravi Riverfront Development Plan to the Central Government through the State Government, assuring necessary financial support for the project.
The meeting discussed progress under key schemes including Jawaharlal Nehru Government Medical College, PMGSY, NH-154A, RDSS, Jal Jeevan Mission, National Health Mission, Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana, social pension schemes, PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, Samagra Shiksha, and MPLADS. Departmental officers presented detailed updates on implementation.
MLAs Dr. Hans Raj and D.S. Thakur were present along with Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal, who welcomed participants and outlined district administration’s efforts. Non-official members Krishna Mahajan, Manoj Kumar, Subhash Thakur, SP Vijay Kumar Saklani, Additional DC Amit Mahra, and senior officers from various departments also attended.
