Another sickle attack in Palampur, villager targets 4 of family

After the broad daylight attack on a college girl recently, Palampur in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh against witnessed an episode of sickle attack wherein a villager attacked four persons of a family.
According to information, the incident took place at Mainjha village near Palampur. The four injured have been admitted to the Civil Hospital, Palampur, where they are undergoing treatment. The injured include Madan Lal, Santosh Kumari, Ratan Chand and Keshav.
All four belong to the same family and the attacker is said to be a resident of the same village. The reason behind the incident has not been revealed yet, though it is suspected that it was a dispute over land.
The police have started investigating the matter. DSP Lokendra Singh Negi confirmed the matter and said that investigation had been started.
A youth had allegedly attacked the college girl with a sickle at the Palampur bus stand on Saturday (April 20, 2024) evening, injuring her grievously.
The youth allegedly rained over 10 blows on the victim with the weapon before being overpowered by a few passengers and passersby and handed over to the police. The girl suffered deep wounds on her body. She was rushed to Tanda Medical College (TMC) in a critical condition from where she was referred to PGI-Chandigarh.
People belonging to the girl’s village and other residents later protested outside the Palampur police station and demanded death penalty for the youth, who belongs to Massal area of Kangra district.
