DHARAMSHALA – Marking a new chapter in accessible healthcare for the region, *Motherland Hospital, a multi-speciality medical facility, was officially inaugurated in Dharamshala today. The ceremony was graced by *Dr. Vivek Karol, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Kangra, who hailed the establishment as a vital addition to the district’s medical landscape.
A Milestone for Community Health
During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Dr. Vivek Karol emphasized the importance of private healthcare initiatives that prioritize service over profit. Addressing the gathering, the CMO noted that the presence of a multi-speciality hospital in the heart of Dharamshala would significantly reduce the referral load on state-run institutions like Tanda Medical College.
“The health department welcomes such robust infrastructure,” Dr. Karol stated. “Motherland Hospital will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between primary care and advanced emergency services for the people of this hill town.”
Commending a Mission of Resilience
A key highlight of the event was the CMO’s high praise for Dharmendra Singh Kanwar, the driving force behind the mission. The hospital was born out of Kanwar’s personal resolve following the tragic loss of his wife, a loss attributed to the lack of specialized medical facilities available in the town at that time.
Dr. Karol lauded Kanwar’s altruism, stating:
“It takes immense courage to turn personal grief into a public blessing. Dharmendra Singh Kanwar’s dedication to ensuring that no other family suffers a similar fate is truly commendable. This hospital is a shining example of how a mission-driven approach can improve community well-being.”

The CMO inspected the facility’s modern equipment and clinical wings, noting that the hospital is well-positioned to handle emergencies that previously required long-distance travel.
The inauguration concluded with a tour of the premises, where local leaders and medical professionals expressed optimism that Motherland Hospital will set a new benchmark for healthcare delivery in the Kangra valley.
