Amit Shah targets Rahul, Priyanka over Shimla holidays, says PM hasn’t taken leave for 23 years

Says BJP will form govt in Himachal on June 4

DHARAMSHALA: BJP leader and Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said here on Saturday that Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were used to living a comfortable life and can be seen holidaying every now and then in Shimla whereas Prime Minister Narendra Modi hadn’t taken leave for the past 23 years when he became the Gujarat Chief Minister.
“Rahul ‘Baba’ and his sister come to Shimla for holidays, but they couldn’t attend the consecration of Lord Ram in Ayodhya. This reflects their priorities in life,” said Shah as he addressed a rally in favour of BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate for Kangra Rajeev Bhardwaj and Dharamshala Assembly bypoll nominee Sudhir Sharma.
Taking an aim at the Himachal Pradesh Congress government led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the Union Minister said the BJP would form the government in the state after the declaration of the results of the Assembly bypoll on June 4. “The Congress has not fulfilled any of the promises it said it will fulfil in the first cabinet meeting. Among them are giving Rs 1,500 grant to women aged over 18 years, buying cow dung from farmers, five lakh jobs, etc,” he said.
Shah said Sukhu went on locking spree as he shut all institutions and offices that were opened by former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur towards the end of his tenure. He claimed the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections had concluded while the sixth phase was going on today and “PM Modi had crossed 310 seats in the fifth phase itself”. “Now, PM Modi will cross 400 seats in the sixth and seventh phases. The responsibility of crossing 400 is in the hands of the people of the states, including Himachal, which are witnessing elections in the seventh phase,” he said, adding “Rahul Baba’s Congress would fall below 40 this time”.
