Dharamshala: In the bustling realm of Himachal Pradesh’s political theater, a tale of contrasting personas unfolds as Sanjay Rattan, the usually vocal MLA from Jawalamukhi, assumes a silent stance, while his friend Sudhir Sharma, a former Congress stalwart, embraces newfound activism in BJP.

Following the political setback of the Congress in the recent Rajya Sabha elections, speculations swirled about Rattan’s potential induction into the cabinet. Yet, despite notifications being issued for several Congress leaders in Kangra district, including his juniors, Rattan found himself excluded.

Rattan’s subsequent silence raises questions about his aspirations for power within the ruling Congress, or perhaps hints at underlying differences with the current leadership, potentially at the cost of the Congress party’s prospects.

While Rattan remains conspicuously silent, his erstwhile colleague Sudhir Sharma, now aligned with the BJP, has adopted a proactive stance.

Efforts to reach out to Rattan have proven futile, highlighting the mystery surrounding his sudden withdrawal. It is noteworthy that Rattan shares a cordial relationship with Sudhir Sharma, who recently defected from the Congress to join the BJP.

Sudhir Sharma’s newfound activism and vocal opposition to the ruling Congress, including Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, stand in stark contrast to Rattan’s reticence.

With the BJP organizing a high-profile meeting, “Parichay Baithak,” for Sudhir Sharma, and former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur set to participate, the political landscape in Himachal Pradesh seems poised for a significant upheaval.

Deputy Chief Minister, on Monday, delivered a clear message to party leaders in Una, emphasizing that their current positions are owed to the Congress.

“Everyone should rally against the injustices perpetrated against the ruling party, just as they have been inflicted upon us. Approach these elections with personal investment and commitment,” he urged during a party meeting.

However, his sentiments have not been universally well-received, with many, perhaps including Sanjay Rattan, expressing discontent. Rattan has remained inactive for several days, refraining from voicing support for the Congress government or Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu.
