MANDI: Anish Chandel from Bilaspur district in Himachal Pradesh won the 21-km Mandi Half Marathon held on the occasion of the International Mahashivratri Festival. He completed the distance in 1:10:40 seconds and was awarded a prize of ₹21,000. Rajendra Kumar from Mandi secured the second position while Ramesh Kumar from Mandi stood third. The winners were honoured by DIG (Central Zone) Siva Kumar.
In the 11-km Women’s Half Marathon, Gargi from Kangra stood first, completing the distance in 47:50 seconds and was awarded a prize of ₹15,000. Mansi Thakur from Balh in Mandi secured the second position while Astha from Jogindernagar clinched the third spot.
In the 3-km Fun Run for the age group 10 to 16 years, Saurabh Thakur secured the first position, Gaurav stood second and Aditya Kumar third. In the age group 17 to 35 years, Chaman Lal secured the first position, Rustam second and Bakshish stood third. In the age group 36 to 60, Tara Chand secured the first position, Sukh Ram second and Tulsi Ram clinched the third spot. In the over-60 age group, Gopal Singh stood first, Harbans Singh second and Surendra Singh third. The winners of the 3-km Fun Run were awarded prizes of ₹4,100 for the first position, ₹3,100 for second and ₹2,100 for third.
The marathon was flagged off by Mandi Superintendent of Police Sakshi Verma. On the occasion, Youth Services and Sports Officer Deepti Vaidya, DSP (Headquarters) Dev Raj, IPS probationer Gauravjeet Singh, HPS probationer Rashmi along with other police officers and constables were present.
