Sacred Heart School Dalhousie, the town’s oldest and most historic institution, celebrated the 80th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor. The school campus came alive as students, teachers, and sisters joined together to mark the occasion.
The chief guest of the ceremony was Vandana Chaddha, President of Dalhousie Municipal Council. She was accompanied by her husband Manoj Chaddha, who served as the Council’s President for 15 years. Their arrival was warmly welcomed by Principal Sister Molly Cherian, Father Justin, teachers, and students.
Vandana Chaddha unfurled the Tricolor in the school courtyard and took the salute of the parade presented by the students. The children also showcased vibrant cultural and patriotic performances, adding to the spirit of the day.
In her address, Vandana Chaddha expressed gratitude to the school administration for inviting her as chief guest on such a sacred occasion. She said, “For me, being present here at Sacred Heart School Dalhousie and celebrating this proud moment with all of you is a great honor.”
She reminded everyone that Independence Day is not just a national festival but a day to remember the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of countless freedom fighters. She paid tribute to leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Subhash Chandra Bose, Rani Lakshmi Bai, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and many other known and unknown heroes whose sacrifices paved the way for India’s freedom on 15 August 1947.
The program concluded with a collective pledge to uphold the values of freedom and contribute to the nation’s progress.
