The nation’s 80th Independence Day was celebrated with grandeur at the historic Red Fort, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi unfurled the Tricolour and addressed the nation.
The ceremony began with the Guard of Honour and a 21-gun salute, followed by helicopters showering flower petals over the Red Fort. Thousands of guests, including freedom fighters’ families, artisans, students, and NCC cadets, attended the event.
This year’s celebrations carried special significance with the theme “Yuva Shakti for Viksit Bharat@2047”, highlighting the role of India’s youth in shaping a developed nation. For the first time, Vande Mataram was sung live to mark its 150th anniversary, and the Prime Minister’s speech was translated in real-time into 22 Indian languages using AI technology.
The Prime Minister emphasized unity, progress, and India’s achievements in defence, digital innovation, and infrastructure. He called upon citizens to work collectively toward the vision of a developed India by 2047.
Across Delhi, landmarks were illuminated in saffron, white, and green, while schools and communities held patriotic programs, parades, and cultural performances. Security arrangements were tight, with thousands of personnel ensuring smooth conduct of the celebrations.
