The monsoon has arrived in Dalhousie, bringing heavy downpours that caused drainage blockages on the town’s famous Mall Road. On Thursday, torrential rain led to clogged drains, forcing water to overflow onto the road. Tourists, schoolchildren, and local residents faced significant inconvenience as a result.
As soon as the issue was reported, Dalhousie Municipal Council President Vandana Chadda directed the concerned department to resolve the problem immediately. Local resident Ashu Gandotra also contributed actively in addressing the situation.
Residents have lauded Vandana Chadda’s swift response and urged the administration to strengthen the drainage system along Mall Road and other streets before the monsoon intensifies. Locals expressed hope that the Municipal Council will continue to act promptly on civic issues while also focusing on tourism development, cleanliness, and beautification of Dalhousie.
This year, the Dalhousie Municipal Council is led by President Vandana Chadda and Vice President Reena Jaryal, marking a new era of women leadership. Citizens have high expectations from the council, particularly in terms of development and problem-solving.
It is noteworthy that Vandana Chadda is the wife of former Council President Manoj Chadda, who served as Dalhousie’s Municipal Council head for 15 years.
