Himachal’s Yashovardhan Atri Shines in Yogasana, Inspires Youth with International Success

Seventeen-year-old Yashovardhan Atri, a Class XII student of Him Academy Public School, Vikas Nagar, has emerged as a rising star in yogasana sports, winning medals from the district level to the international stage. His dedication and consistent practice over the past nine years have brought pride to his parents, coaches, school, Himachal Pradesh, and India.

Yashovardhan has excelled in competitions organized by the School Games Federation of India (SGFI), Bharat Yogasana, and the Yoga Federation of India (YFI), securing medals across multiple age categories. In the 2025–26 session, he won a gold medal at the State School Games (14–19 age group), achieved a hat-trick of golds in the Bharat Yogasana State Championship, and added another gold at the YFI State Championship, completing a remarkable tally of five gold medals in a single season.

At the national level, he impressed at the SGFI Games in Kolkata (U-19) and the 6th Junior National Yogasana Championship in Vijayawada (U-18), reaching the finals and ranking among the top four performers. His strong showing continued at the 50th YFI National Championship.

On the international stage, Yashovardhan represented India at the 10th Asian Yogasana Sports Championship in Singapore (2025), where he won a bronze medal, bringing glory to the nation.

Speaking about his journey, Yashovardhan said he practices 3–4 hours daily under the guidance of his trainers, with a clear goal of winning medals for India at the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games in the future.

His father, Narendra Atri, himself a distinguished sportsperson and currently Vice President of the Himachal Pradesh Olympic Association, has been a source of inspiration and support.

Yashovardhan’s achievements have made him a role model for youth, spreading awareness about yogasana and motivating others to pursue discipline, health, and excellence through the ancient practice.
