Deputy Commissioner and District Census Officer Mukesh Repswal, while addressing a press conference at Bachat Bhawan today, announced that the Census 2027 process has officially commenced from June 1. He stated that the census will be conducted in two phases.
In the first phase, house listing and housing census will begin on June 16. During this stage, enumerators will ask citizens 33 questions covering housing conditions, drinking water facilities, toilets, electricity, cooking fuel, internet access, and other basic amenities.
Repswal highlighted that modern digital technology is being used in Census 2027, with citizens given the option of self-enumeration. From June 1 to June 15, individuals can log in to the official census website (se.census.gov.in) using their mobile number and answer the 33 multiple-choice questions. Upon completion, registrants will receive a unique ID, also sent via mobile SMS.
Citizens who complete self-enumeration must provide this unique ID to enumerators during house listing and housing census. Repswal assured that all information provided will remain secure, confidential, and protected under prescribed privacy standards.
In the second phase, enumerators will conduct the population count. He emphasized that census data forms the foundation of development planning, enabling the government to design welfare schemes, policies, and programs.
The Deputy Commissioner appealed to all residents of the district to actively cooperate in this important national exercise by providing accurate and complete information to enumerators. He further urged citizens to make maximum use of the self-enumeration facility to make the census process simpler, faster, and more effective.
