The Electricity Sub‑Division Bharmour has issued a public notice urging consumers to cooperate in the ongoing replacement of old electricity meters with smart meters. Assistant Engineer Krishna Suryabansi stated that the installation drive is being carried out under the provisions of the Electricity Act, 2003.

The department clarified that any consumer who obstructs or refuses permission for smart meter installation will be considered in violation of the Act. As per Section 163(3) of the Electricity Act, 2003, electricity supply to such consumers will be disconnected within 24 hours without further notice.

Furthermore, the department emphasized that power supply will not be restored until the concerned consumer provides full consent and access for smart meter installation.

The Bharmaur Power Department has appealed to all consumers to extend cooperation in this initiative, which aims to make electricity services more transparent, efficient, and streamlined.
