Continuous rainfall since Thursday morning in the tribal subdivision of Bharmour has brought much-needed relief to farmers and orchardists. The showers, which lasted until afternoon, eased the dry spell that had been troubling the region, lifting the spirits of the farming community.

Fresh snowfall was also recorded on the higher peaks, including Kugti Pass, Chaubia Pass, and around the Manimahesh Dal Lake. The new layer of snow has once again increased the chill in the area, prompting residents to take out their warm clothing.

Farmers expressed optimism, noting that the rainfall will greatly benefit the crops currently sown in the region — barley, wheat, peas, and mustard. They described the precipitation as “life-saving” for their fields.

In recent days, unusual heatwave-like conditions in March had raised concerns among farmers and orchardists. They feared that without timely rain, premature flowering could occur, adversely affecting crop yields. The prolonged dry spell had further added to their worries.

However, Thursday’s rainfall and fresh snowfall have brought joy and relief. Farmers and orchardists believe this weather will prove highly beneficial for upcoming harvests and horticulture.
