Chamba – The Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony at Government Senior Secondary School Hatli was celebrated with great enthusiasm. The event was graced by the Speaker of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Kuldeep Singh Pathania, who was warmly welcomed by the school administration, students, and local residents.

Highlights of the Ceremony

  • Students presented vibrant cultural performances.
  • Outstanding achievers in academics, sports, and extracurricular activities were honored with awards.
  • The Speaker inaugurated a newly constructed examination hall worth ₹13.60 lakh and lit a ceremonial lamp before Goddess Saraswati’s idol to mark the beginning of the program.
  • He announced a grant of ₹31,000 for the school’s cultural activities.

Key Address by Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania

Pathania emphasized the importance of moral values and employment-oriented education for success in life. He noted that honesty, discipline, respect, and empathy are essential qualities that shape good citizens. He urged students to balance academic excellence with respect for parents, teachers, and elders, while fulfilling their responsibilities toward society.

Development Announcements

The Speaker highlighted several ongoing and upcoming development projects in Bhatiyat Assembly Constituency:

  • Education: From the next academic session, CBSE curriculum will be introduced in 100 schools across Himachal Pradesh, including 8 schools in Chamba district. A Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding School will be opened in Thulel.
  • Roads: 35 rural roads have already been completed, while construction of another 35 is underway. By 2027, 125 new rural roads are expected to be completed.
  • Infrastructure:
  • ₹220 crore invested through the Public Works Department and ₹200 crore through the Jal Shakti Department in Bhatiyat.
  • Strengthening of electricity supply with ₹50 crore investment, including a new 33 KV substation at Kakaroti Ghatta.
  • Singhuta–Lahdu double-lane road to be completed by June 2026.
  • Construction of a mini secretariat at Singhuta and a 25-bed hospital at Samot costing ₹20 crore.
  • A Jal Shakti rest house worth ₹3 crore is being built in Singhuta.

Proposed National Highway

Pathania revealed that the Himachal Pradesh government has submitted proposals for five major national highways to the Union Ministry of Road Transport. Among them is the Draman–Singhuta–Lahdu–Jot–Chamba highway, which is expected to receive approval by the end of 2026.

  • The highway will include tunnels and flyovers, reducing travel time between Draman and Chamba to just one hour.

A ₹32 crore sewerage project in Singhuta is underway and is expected to be completed within two years.

The event was attended by several prominent figures including Krishan Chand Chela (Director, HP State Forest Corporation), Sher Singh (Gram Panchayat Hatli Pradhan), SDM Paras Agrawal, DFO Rajneesh Mahajan, Executive Engineer Narendra Chaudhary, DSP Chuwari Sher Singh, and many others, along with a large gathering of local residents.
