Agnihotri launches water, sewerage projects; flags off 10 e-buses; announces HRTC recruitment

Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri on Friday unveiled a massive development package worth around ₹150 crore for Nagrota Bagwan constituency, inaugurating and laying foundation stones for drinking water, irrigation, and sewerage projects. He also flagged off 10 new electric buses and announced recruitment of drivers and conductors in the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC).
During his day-long visit, Agnihotri launched projects across Baldhar, Singhund, Pathiyar, Keerchamba, Nagrota Bagwan, and Baroh, aimed at strengthening basic infrastructure and improving public services.
Drinking Water and Sewerage Projects
At Pathiyar, he inaugurated the ₹25-crore Massal drinking water scheme under the New Development Bank, benefiting over 20,000 people in 40 villages across eight panchayats. A 133-km pipeline has been laid under the project.
At Keerchamba, he laid the foundation stone for a ₹76-crore sewerage scheme covering five panchayats, addressing long-standing sanitation needs.
Irrigation and Reconstruction Works
Lift irrigation schemes worth ₹6.35 crore were launched at Baldhar and Singhund, providing irrigation to 135 hectares of farmland. At Baroh, he performed bhoomi pujan for the reconstruction of five old drinking water schemes under the Asian Development Bank, costing ₹35 crore, with a November 30 completion deadline.
Push for Clean Transport
Agnihotri flagged off 10 electric buses from Nagrota Bagwan bus stand and travelled by bus to Baroh. He said the initiative would strengthen local connectivity and promote cleaner public transport. The government has already inducted 297 electric buses into HRTC and plans to procure 1,000 more, alongside 200 new diesel buses for long-distance routes.
HRTC Recruitment and Modernisation
Announcing recruitment of drivers and conductors, Agnihotri said HRTC was the lifeline of Himachal Pradesh and needed strengthening. He noted that 500 old buses were being phased out, employees had been regularised, and the Old Pension Scheme implemented.
Praise for R.S. Bali
Agnihotri praised Nagrota MLA and HPTDC Chairman R.S. Bali for carrying forward the development legacy of his father, former minister G.S. Bali. He said Nagrota Bagwan had become a “brand” of development and described Bali as an active representative whose role would grow in Kangra district’s future politics.
Focus on Basic Facilities
Addressing public meetings, Agnihotri said the government was prioritising drinking water, irrigation, and public transport — sectors directly impacting daily life. R.S. Bali thanked the Deputy CM and credited party workers and the people for the constituency’s progress.
