On Wednesday, November 26, a meeting was organised in the Gram Panchayat Sanchui of Bharmour subdivision to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. The event was held under the “New Chetna Gender Campaign”, aimed at ending gender-based violence and promoting equality.

The campaign seeks to empower self-help groups, women’s village organizations, and communities to identify, resist, and raise awareness against violence faced by women. It also emphasizes the importance of safeguarding women’s rights.

Sanjay Kumar, Area Coordinator of Development Block Bharmour, explained that the initiative focuses on spreading awareness about different forms of gender-based violence. He highlighted the need to encourage women to speak out against violence and demand action, thereby strengthening their role in society.

The campaign will run from November 25 to December 23, 2025, across block and panchayat levels, following a structured activity calendar. Women from self-help groups actively participated in the meeting, where discussions also took place on activities conducted under the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM).
