In a bid to spread awareness about the importance of paying income tax and developing a responsible tax culture among youth, the Income Tax Department, Dalhousie, on Tuesday (November 4, 2025) organised an Income Tax Awareness Programme at DAV College, Banikhet (Dalhousie).
The event was held under the guidance of Shalini Bhargava Kaushal, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax-I, Chandigarh, and Sridhar Dora, Additional Commissioner of Income Tax, Shimla Range.
Representing the Dalhousie office, Vineet Kumar, Income Tax Officer; Ankit Malik, Inspector; Rajesh Sharma, Tax Assistant; Shobhit Chawla, Tax Assistant; Pankaj Kumar, and Rajiv Tandon interacted with the college students and faculty members.
During the session, the officials explained the importance of paying taxes honestly and on time for the nation’s economic growth and development. They also familiarised students with the working system of the Income Tax Department and encouraged them to understand their future role as responsible citizens.
Answering students’ queries, Vineet Kumar said the initiative aimed to develop a positive “tax culture” among youth, as they represent the country’s future. “Creating awareness at a young age helps build responsible citizens who contribute to the nation’s progress,” he added.
As part of the Vigilance Awareness Week 2025, officials of the department also administered the Integrity Pledge to students and teachers, reaffirming their commitment to transparency and honesty.
The department representatives expressed gratitude to Dr. Ranju Bala Patial, Principal of DAV College-Banikhet, and faculty members Sarika Berry, Nandini, Naresh Kumar and Arvind as well as the students and staff for their cooperation and participation.
Officials said the Income Tax Department has been conducting such awareness programmes regularly and will continue organising similar sessions in various schools and colleges across Chamba district to promote tax awareness among students.
