Truck loaded with tiles falls into gorge in Chamba, driver from Rajasthan killed on spot

Chamba: A road accident occurred early Friday (July 4, 2025) morning near Chaned on the Pathankot-Bharmaur National Highway in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh when a truck loaded with tiles and marble plunged into a 200-foot-deep gorge.


The driver, who was also the owner of the truck, *died on the spot. The deceased has been identified as Ramswaroop, son of Pemaram and a resident of Swantasar in Bikaner (Rajasthan).


The accident happened in the early hours when nearby villagers heard a loud crash and rushed towards the scene. They discovered the truck lying in a stream at the bottom of the gorge and found the driver trapped inside the vehicle.


Villagers managed to pull him out of the wreckage in a severely injured condition and immediately alerted the police. Upon arrival, the police shifted the unconscious driver to the hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.


Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased was on his way to Chamba to deliver a consignment of tiles and other construction material. Ramswaroop was reportedly operating the vehicle himself and owned the truck involved in the accident. Chamba Superintendent of Police Abhishek Yadav confirmed the incident.
