An initiative by the Department of Journalism & Mass Communication aims to foster digital storytelling and student creativity
Dharamshala: In a forward-looking step toward digital academic engagement, the Central University of Himachal Pradesh (CUHP) on Tuesday launched its official podcast channel titled “Uncharted Tales.” The initiative, spearheaded by the Department of Journalism & Mass Communication under the School of Journalism, Mass Communication and New Media, aims to empower students to explore creative storytelling through emerging media formats.
The launch ceremony was held on the university campus in the presence of distinguished dignitaries and faculty members. The event was graced by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sat Prakash Bansal, who attended as the Chief Guest. In his address, Prof. Bansal commended the department for its innovative approach and lauded the students for stepping into the domain of audio storytelling.

“This podcast initiative aligns with the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP), which envisions holistic and creative learning. It is vital for institutions like ours to blend academic rigor with new-age communication tools,” said Prof. Bansal.
Dr. Archna Katoch, Dean of the School of Journalism, Mass Communication and New Media, extended her congratulations to the students and faculty involved in the project. She emphasized the role of student-led initiatives in promoting media literacy, creative freedom, and experiential learning.
Prof. Aditya Kant, the project coordinator and senior faculty member, elaborated on the vision behind Uncharted Tales, describing it as “a vibrant and inclusive platform that captures untold stories, campus experiences, and thought-provoking discussions.” He highlighted the department’s focus on nurturing both technical skills and creative confidence among students.
The event saw the presence of several senior university officials and faculty members, including Prof. Suman Sharma (Registrar), Prof. Pradeep Kumar (Dean of Academics), Prof. Sandeep Kulshreshtha, Dr. Harsh Mishra, Dr. Monika, Dr. Chandan Anand, and Assistant Professor Deepak Vaishnav.
The podcast channel, available on multiple platforms, is expected to serve as a space for dialogue, critical thinking, and public engagement—providing students with hands-on experience in content creation, audio production, and journalistic storytelling.
The launch was met with enthusiastic participation from the university community. Students and faculty members welcomed Uncharted Tales as a creative outlet and a new chapter in CUHP’s efforts to stay ahead in the evolving landscape of media and communication.
