Shimla: Parts of Himachal Pradesh are set to experience snowfall and rain on Thursday (March 27, 2025), with the Meteorological Department issuing a yellow alert for snowfall in some areas of Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti.
Lower and mid-altitude regions are expected to receive light rain. A thunderstorm and lightning warning has been issued for Chamba, Kangra, Kullu and Mandi districts, where strong winds and moderate rainfall are anticipated.
Light rain is likely in Hamirpur, Bilaspur and Una. However, according to Meteorological Department, the weather is expected to remain clear across the state for the next five days starting Friday.
Unseasonal heat before rain, snow
Before the rain and snowfall, temperatures have soared across the state, with seven cities recording temperatures above 30°C.

The highest temperature was reported in Bilaspur at 34.6°C, which is 7.7°C above normal, while Una recorded 34.4°C. The state’s average maximum temperature is currently 3.9°C above normal.
Bilaspur recorded 34.6°C, which is 7.7°C above normal, Shimla: 23°C (5.6°C above normal), Sundernagar 32.2°C (5.6°C above normal) and Solan: 30.5°C (5.7°C above normal).
25% deficient rainfall in March
Despite good rain and snowfall in the first week of March, the second and third weeks remained dry, leading to a 25% rainfall deficit in the state by March 26.
Normally, Himachal Pradesh receives 100.9 mm of precipitation from March 1 to 25, but this year, it has received only 75.7 mm.
