Maharajagunj (Uttar Pradesh): In a tragic incident on Sunday, February 16, 2025, Dharmatma Nishad, the former State Secretary of the Nishad Party, was found dead at his residence in Narkataha village, Maharajganj district, Uttar Pradesh.

Prior to his death, he posted a detailed note on Facebook, alleging harassment and political conspiracy by the party’s president, Dr. Sanjay Nishad, who also serves as a Cabinet Minister in the Uttar Pradesh government, and his sons, Praveen Nishad and E. Shravan Nishad.

In his heartfelt post, Dharmatma expressed profound disillusionment, stating that despite dedicating over a decade to the upliftment of the Nishad community, he faced continuous persecution.

He accused the Nishad family of orchestrating false legal cases against him, leading to multiple incarcerations. Dharmatma lamented that his rising influence within the community had unsettled the party leadership, prompting efforts to undermine his credibility and position.

The aftermath of his death saw immediate unrest. Family members and supporters staged a protest outside his residence, demanding legal action against those named in his note.

However, the police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Jaiprakash Nishad and three unidentified individuals, conspicuously omitting the names of Dr. Sanjay Nishad and his sons.

This omission has sparked widespread speculation about potential external pressures influencing the investigation.

Responding to the allegations, Dr. Sanjay Nishad expressed personal grief over Dharmatma’s demise, describing it as a significant loss. He refuted the accusations, labeling them as misleading, and called for an impartial investigation to uncover the truth.
