MANDI: From humble beginnings to becoming a principal engineer with online giant Amazon in the US, the journey of Ashish Vaidya, a resident of Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, is nothing short of extraordinary.
Ashish has excelled in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and generative AI. His groundbreaking contributions, backed by four patents, serve as a testament to his relentless pursuit of excellence.
Born and raised in Mandi, Ashish’s early life was shaped by the simple yet enriching environment of his hometown. A student of Kendriya Vidyalaya at Mandi, he consistently stood out as a high achiever, securing a state rank of 53 in the prestigious AIEEE exam.
Pursued BTech in Information Technology
His academic brilliance earned him a spot at the National Institute of Technology-Karnataka, Surathkal, where he pursued a BTech in Information Technology. Graduating with distinction in 2008, Ashish was already laying the groundwork for an illustrious career.
Ashish’s professional journey began at Novell Inc., where his talent and innovation were quickly recognised. Filing his first patent early in his career, he demonstrated a knack for problem-solving and out-of-the-box thinking. His career trajectory led him to Citrix and eventually to Amazon in 2014, marking the beginning of his impactful contributions to some of Amazon’s most iconic products, including Prime Video, Social Media Ads and Alexa.
Today, as a principal engineer at Alexa Audio, Ashish oversees the technical aspects of Alexa’s Music, Radio, Podcast and Audiobook systems. His work enables millions of user interactions daily, ensuring seamless and engaging audio experiences for customers worldwide.
