Bus carrying 20 passengers was travelling from Sanehi to Rampur when the accident occurred near Sunda; two critically injured passengers undergoing treatment at Khaneri Hospital
One person was k*illed and several others injured after a Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus plunged into a gorge near Sunda in Rampur subdivision of Shimla district on Friday morning.
The bus was travelling from Sanehi to Rampur when the accident occurred at around 7:45 am. According to the Shimla District Disaster Management Authority, around 20 people were on board at the time of the incident.
The deceased has been identified as Vansh Negi, son of Suranjan, a resident of Karali village in Rampur. He reportedly d*ied at the spot following the accident.
Soon after the incident, local residents rushed to the site and joined the rescue efforts. The injured passengers were shifted to Mahatma Gandhi Medical Services Complex (MGMSC) at Khaneri with the help of private vehicles. Ambulances also reached the accident site to assist in the evacuation.
Hospital authorities were alerted immediately, and a team of doctors was kept ready to provide emergency treatment to the injured. Two seriously injured passengers are currently undergoing treatment at Khaneri Hospital.
Local resident Dinesh Sharma said the bus was travelling towards Rampur from Sanehi when it met with the accident near Sunda. He said several passengers were on board the vehicle.
The accident triggered an immediate response from local residents and emergency services, who worked to ensure that the injured received timely medical attention.
Rampur is located approximately 100 kilometres from Shimla. Further details regarding the circumstances leading to the accident and the condition of the other injured passengers are awaited.
