Bhaani Sharma belonged to Dharamshala, was on a pilgrimage in Chamba
SHIMLA: The body of Bhaani Das Sharma, the father of Kinnaur Deputy Commissioner Amit Sharma, was found in a mutilated condition on Friday (September 20, 2024) evening. The body, which appears to have been scratched by wild animals, was discovered after a 10-day search operation.
Bhaani Sharma, 67, had gone missing from Dhancho area on September 10 during the Manimahesh Yatra.
The body was found near a nullah about 2.5 km from Hadsar, where search teams from the Mountaineering Institute, NDRF, SDRF and local police had been scouring the area.

Despite the extensive efforts, including searches from Dal Lake to Bharmour and up to the Kartik Swami Temple in Kugti, Bhaani Sharma’s body was only found late Friday.
The identification of the body was confirmed by his family and verified by the Bharmour SHO. According to the police, it appears that Bhaani Sharma may have died after a fall, with subsequent injuries caused by animals.
Bhaani Sharma, originally from Sudhed village near Dharamshala, had embarked on the Manimahesh Yatra on September 7. His disappearance prompted an intense search operation by the Chamba district administration. The family had even announced a cash reward of Rs 2.50 lakh for anyone who could provide leads on his whereabouts.
