Mandi (Munish Sood)
The Bhutnath Dharam Sangh organised a ‘Jan Akrosh Rally’ in Mandi town of Himachal Pradesh, bringing together several Hindu organisations to raise their voice against the escalating atrocities faced by Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh.
The rally witnessed widespread participation, with speakers demanding immediate intervention from the Indian government to address the ongoing violence and human rights violations in the neighboring country.
Following the rally, Bhutnath Dharam Sangh submitted a memorandum to the President Droupadi Murmu through the Mandi administration, urging her to take decisive action to safeguard the rights and lives of Hindu minorities in Bangladesh.
Highlighting crisis in Bangladesh
The memorandum detailed the dire situation in Bangladesh, including targeted violence, harassment, sexual violence, forced conversions, rapes and murders of Hindu women and girls, attacks on religious sites, systematic vandalism and desecration of centuries-old Hindu temples and idols.
The protesters also cited the destruction of property by looting and burning down of homes and businesses owned by Hindus and other minorities. They alleged that Hindu officials in Bangladesh were reportedly being coerced to resign from high-ranking government positions, marginalising the community further. They alleged that the local authorities in Bangladesh had failed to protect minorities and were often complicit in these acts of violence.
Urgent appeal to Indian government
The Bhutnath Dharam Sangh memorandum strongly condemned these acts of violence and called upon the Indian government to urge the Bangladeshi interim government to stop the atrocities immediately and hold perpetrators accountable, take diplomatic and international measures to ensure the protection of minorities in Bangladesh and advocate for the withdrawal of the Nobel Peace Prize awarded to Mohammad Yunus, citing his silence on these atrocities.
The Bhutnath Dharam Sangh has expressed deep concern over the existential crisis faced by Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh. It has urged President Murmu to act decisively to protect the fundamental rights, dignity, and property of these vulnerable communities.
