Palampur: A two-day sports competition, jointly organized by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Agricultural University Palampur Unit and Agrivision, commenced with great enthusiasm. Students from the university actively participated in the event.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Janardan Singh (Head, Organic Farming Department), and the Special Guest, Dr. Rishi Thakur (Assistant Professor, Biochemistry), graced the occasion with their presence.
Shaifali Thakur, President of ABVP Agricultural University Palampur Unit, highlighted that the primary objective of the competition is to instill sportsmanship among students, keep them away from substance abuse, and promote teamwork and discipline.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Dr. Janardan Singh emphasized the significance of sports, stating that they not only contribute to physical and mental well-being but also foster discipline, teamwork, and self-reliance.
He appreciated the initiative taken by ABVP and CSKHPKV, recognizing it as an excellent effort to raise awareness about the harmful effects of drug addiction while encouraging students to participate in sports.
Special Guest Dr. Rishi Thakur spoke about the role of sports in maintaining good health and developing leadership skills and a positive mindset. Encouraging students, he remarked that just as an athlete achieves victory through hard work, patience, and dedication, these same qualities are essential for achieving success in life.
Agrivision PG Convenor Sakshi Sharma was also present at the event. Throughout the competition, various sports events were held, with students participating with great enthusiasm.
The competition will conclude on March 1, with the winners being honored in the closing ceremony.
