Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu kicked off his much-anticipated Kangra district tour on Friday, marking a day filled with public interactions and strategic political meetings. Donning a brown bandhgala suit, the 61-year-old CM landed from helicopter at Sai helipad at 12:15 PM, embarking on a packed schedule.

Upon stepping out of the helicopter, Sukhu headed straight to public functions. He then moved to the Mini Secretariat, where he met with people, wrapping up his public engagements around 7:30 PM.

The he headed for function of his party MLA Kewal Singh Pathania at Shahpur with other congress leaders. CM during his tour on first day included the party’s young leadership such as Yadvinder Goma, RS Bali, Bhawani Pathania, Ashish Butail, Kewal Pathania, Gokul Butail, Vijender Karan, and Devender Jaggi.

The discussions reportedly revolved around strengthening the party’s outreach and addressing the developmental needs of Kangra district.

Speaking to the media, Sukhu emphasized the strategic importance of Kangra, the state’s largest district with 15 constituencies. “The government’s aim is to ensure holistic development across every area and streamline bureaucracy to make it more efficient,” he said.

Addressing the so-called “winter sojourn,” Sukhu explained, “This tour is about dedicating time to Kangra’s vast and diverse regions. When the Chief Minister stays here, people label it as a winter sojourn, but the reality is that this district’s needs demand more attention.”

One of the key highlights of the day was Sukhu’s extended stay at the Mini Secretariat, a building that had long been neglected. His visit effectively revived the space, with Congress leader Devender Jaggi actively participating in the public interactions throughout the day.

The CM’s Kangra tour has set a proactive tone for governance, blending direct public engagement with political strategizing. As Sukhu continues his tour of the region, all eyes are on how his efforts will translate into tangible outcomes for the district.
