Zonal Railway Users Consultative Committee member Deepak Bhardwaj today met Northern Railway General Manager Rajesh Kumar Pandey in Delhi. Bhardwaj extended congratulations and best wishes to the GM on his new assignment and raised several key regional issues during the meeting.
The Kangra Valley Railway was highlighted as a major concern. Bhardwaj emphasized that continuous efforts have been underway for the past one and a half years to preserve and restart this heritage rail service, which holds immense importance for local commuters, regional residents, and tourism. He urged the GM to share updates on the current operational status of the service.
Other public-interest matters from the Pathankot region were also discussed. Bhardwaj drew attention to the closure of the railway crossing at Defense Colony, Pathankot, which has caused serious inconvenience to residents, affecting daily movement, emergency services, and school transportation. He also pressed for action on the long-pending demand for construction of a subway (LHS) at Chhatrauli.
The GM gave serious consideration to all the issues raised and assured that necessary steps would be taken promptly. Bhardwaj further stated that elected representatives of the region should also actively pursue these matters to ensure that railway facilities are restored and made available to the public without delay.
