Himachal Pradesh’s youth leader, social activist, and NSS National Award winner Lalit Kumar Dogra will represent India in Russia on the occasion of International Youth Day. He has been invited as an international delegate to participate in youth programs in the Tyumen region of Russia.
Invitation & Programs
Dogra has received this opportunity under the international youth exchange initiatives of the BRICS Youth Alliance and Russia’s Federal Agency for CIS Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo).
He will travel as an international representative in the “New Generation” program and participate in “Discover Your Russia”, scheduled from August 12 to 18, 2026 in Tyumen. The event will bring together selected youth delegates from multiple countries.
Past International Representation
This marks another milestone in Dogra’s journey of international youth leadership. Earlier, he represented India at the United Nations Responsible Business and Human Rights Forum (Asia-Pacific) held at the UN Conference Centre in Bangkok, Thailand.
Journey of Leadership
Dogra began his leadership and social service journey through the National Service Scheme (NSS), focusing on youth participation, volunteerism, community development, environmental protection, and social causes. His contributions earned him the prestigious NSS National Award (2019–20).
Currently, he serves as Youth Coordinator at the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA), New Delhi, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India. His work emphasizes youth welfare, leadership, capacity building, and engaging young people in urban development and social participation.
Significance for Himachal Pradesh
Dogra’s representation in Russia is seen as a proud moment for Himachal Pradesh. His journey — from grassroots volunteerism to national recognition and now international platforms — stands as an inspiration for the youth of the state.
Speaking about the opportunity, Dogra said that representing India in Russia is not just a personal achievement but a responsibility to bring the voice of Indian youth, volunteers, and social leaders to the global stage.
