SHIMLA: The Punjab Police have arrested a woman from Shimla in Himachal Pradesh in connection with a drug trafficking case.
The woman, identified as 31-year-old Meenakshi from Rohru in Shimla district, was apprehended together by the Solan and Punjab Police for her alleged involvement in the narcotics trade.
Earlier, the police had arrested two accused in the case —Himanshu from Kunihar in Solan and Vishal Thakur from Zirakpur. The duo was caught with 140 grams of chitta in their possession.
During the investigation, it was revealed that Meenakshi was also involved in the drug trade. She was present with Vishal in Zirakpur at the time of his arrest but was let off with a notice due to nightfall. However, she later absconded and even withdrew money from Vishal’s account.
Meenakshi allegedly has a prior history of drug smuggling. A case is already registered against her at Kharar police station in Mohali in Punjab where she was previously caught with 60 grams of chitta.
So far, three accused have been arrested in the case. The woman has been presented in court and further investigation is underway.
